JAIPUR POLICE GOING TO SETUP E-UNIT TO DEAL WITH CYBER CRIMINALS

As cyber crimes such as financial frauds, fake social media ids, distribution of communal contents leads to serious riots are increasing day b day, Jaipur police decides to setup a specialized Cyber crime unit in coming few days.”It’s a specialised crime and we need special equipment and skill to tackle such crimes. Cyber cell will dedicatedly deal with such activities. We expect to contain such activities with this cell in place,” said a senior police official.

The Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had announced in the state budget a provision of Rs 10 crore for setting up cyber crime units in the state. “Half the money – about Rs 5 crores – would be used for setting up and running the special cell in the Jaipur Commissionerate. The new unit would be developed as a model unit in the state. We will replicate this cell in other cities also,” the official added.

There is already a Cyber police station located at State Crime Records Bureau, which deals with economic offences over Rs 5 lakh.

“The move will pay off. There are various cases wherein a person loses few thousand rupees via cyber attack or skimming. Such cases are registered at police station where already hundreds of cases are to be investigated. Moreover, since these cases pertain to technology, they need special attention by men qualified in field of cyber investigation,” officials said.

The Cyber unit would be set up in rooms within the Commissionerate building which are currently under the legal and licensing wing.

According to a source, a proper seating plan, space for equipment and other requirements have already been drawn. “The biggest advantage would be the inclusion of forensics lab within the unit’s framework. This would enable quick gathering and processing of data while also giving the cops an edge in solving cases,” officials said.

In case you fall victim to a cyber crime, you need not travel to the Commissionerate and register your complaint. “Any person can approach the local police station and give their complaints there. The matter would be referred to the cyber unit which will initiate investigation,” officials said
